5 Reasons Why I Include Engagement Sessions In My Collections

I offer engagement sessions with all my full-day wedding packages…. keep reading because I’m about to tell you why.

It’s not unusual at all that I receive an email asking if the engagement session can be taken out of the wedding package to make the price lower. That’s a great question! I used to have them separate and have photographed weddings where I didn’t shoot their engagement session!

However, after shooting over 75 weddings and working with couples who have done either option, having the couple in front of my camera for their engagement session is SO helpful! And here’s why!

1. I want us to get to know each other.

We’ll spend an hour to 2 hours walking around the top engagement session locations in Atlanta. (I have lots of locations suggestions!) And we’ll laugh and get acquainted. And at the end, I’ll give you a big hug!

2. I want you to feel completely at ease about photos on your big day.

At your engagement session, I will give you all the direction you need. You’ll soon realize that it’s easy to look comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera. (About 99.2 percent of people tell me they feel awkward in front of the camera. And the other 0.8 percent just aren’t saying it out loud.) I get it. That’s why I’m going to guide you through poses the whole time. And you will look so fabulous!

3. Try out some poses that you might want for your wedding day portraits.

Many of my couples share with me their Pinterest boards for their engagement session inspiration. And I love it! Sure, I have my go-to poses but I’m always game to try something edgy, fun, or even create an engagement reel with my couples. The engagement session will give us a chance to try a few Pinterest inspiration and poses to see what you love most.

4. The photos will make great save-the-date cards.

The images can also be a beautiful part of your reception décor. And art for your new home.

5. And guess what? It doesn’t matter WHEN you do the shoot.

Sometimes I do engagement session just days before the wedding. Many couples are planning for a certain season or out of town and they can’t travel until the week of the wedding. No worries. The engagement session serves the same purpose the day before the wedding or a year before. It’s a perfect time for us to get to know each other and to be a natural anytime you are in front of the camera!
